snand ai.

I have implimented an AI here at snand. nothing public yet but I’ve been meaning to do some AI playing and learning. maybe I’ll make it public someday but the first question I asked it: “what’s snand.org?”

“SNAND is the Southern Nevada Association for Nursing Development, a non-profit organization that provides educational opportunities and resources to nurses in Las Vegas and surrounding areas. Their website contains information about upcoming events as well as membership details.”

maybe it needs a little work, that or this site needs a rebrand.

saw a couple of old and very dear friends of mine tonight. it’s been a while since I’ve seen either of them (something I’ve always wanted to remedy) but they are both some of the best people I’ve ever known and we always fall right back into it like old times..

snand down??

nope, the snand endures.

yesterday I stopped by webster, my snand VDI, but was greeted with a typical cloudflare error. this site does run on a collection of repurposed speak and spells so I figured the less than ideal desktop running in a container must have barfed. I set the team on fire just in time to notice that snand was down as well.

turns out it was comcrashed.. they are upgrading and so my tubes got clogged. but the good news is, the pile of discarded billy bass’ that operate this site managed to survive and continue singing the song of snand. as soon as my awful ISP fixed my connection we were back.

so why did I post this? pretty much just an excuse to show off our industry leading platform. bask in it’s glory.

The Internet Con: How to Seize the Means of Computation

we’re self built and hosted here at snand, aside from an internet connection we don’t rely on any big tech. don’t get me wrong, we’re standing on the shoulders of giants here, using a wealth of free software but ultimately we’re only beholden to our own (very low) standards.

so, I’m really looking forward to confirming my preconceived biases, reading a book written by the man who coined one of my favorite recent neologisms, enshittification.

let’s hope we’re already on the way to reclaiming the early promises of the web. I sure am feeling reinvigorated building and maintaining my own little slice of the tubes.
